COMPANY
Epistemis is decision-state infrastructure for liability-exposed enterprise decisions. Authorized internal or external reviewers may later examine the basis of these decisions. They may question it or use it to defend a decision.
We bring together evidence and the regulatory and internal requirements relevant to a decision. Together with the alternatives examined, uncertainty and approvals by the people responsible, these form the governed decision state.
Epistemis shows early which requirements are still unmet. Once the defined finalization conditions are met, the decision state can be recorded as final. The state remains traceable for later review.
MISSION
An approval alone does not show what was known when a decision was made. It also does not explain which requirements applied or what remained uncertain.
We want the original basis of liability-exposed enterprise decisions to remain traceable. This should help people when they take responsibility and when they review the decision later.
OUR PRINCIPLES
The people responsible make the business decision and give the required approvals. Epistemis supports them without taking over their responsibility.
Being allowed to analyze does not automatically give someone permission to decide or approve. AI can organize and analyze information. AI results alone are neither business approvals nor a final record of the decision state.
The decision basis also includes alternatives that were examined, objections and remaining uncertainty. Information learned later must not be presented as if it was known at the time.
If mandatory evidence or approvals are missing, a final record within Epistemis remains blocked. These requirements are defined for the decision space. Documented residual uncertainty is not the same as a missing mandatory requirement.
NEUTRALITY
Our neutrality principle means that no single party that reviews evidence may control the infrastructure. This also applies to parties that request or assess evidence.
The people responsible within the enterprise make the business decision and give the required approvals.
Epistemis organizes the decision basis and checks the decision state against the defined requirements. Its authority is clearly limited. It does not recommend how the enterprise should decide.
Authorized reviewers later assess the disclosed decision basis under their own mandate. The right to read information does not give them control over Epistemis.
Feedback can help clarify terms and requirements for readability. It does not change the preserved state. It also gives no authority to make decisions or control the infrastructure.
LONG-TERM ROLE
We want the decision basis to remain traceable when the people responsible change.
Authorized readers should be able to refer to the same preserved decision state. What they are allowed to see depends on their role and the purpose of their review. They may reach different conclusions.
Institutional dialogue addresses the information readers need and the terms they understand. It also clarifies what may be disclosed. A conversation alone does not establish a partnership.
A traceable decision basis is not a certification and does not guarantee acceptance by reviewers or institutions. Epistemis does not replace legal advice. It does not guarantee that a decision is lawful or compliant, or that insurance coverage applies.
